Tara is a female Buddha associated with tantra practice. Tara is a tantric deity used by practitioners to develop certain inner qualities and understand outer, inner and secret teachings. She is known as "Mother of Liberation" and represents the virtue of success in work and achievements. Tara is also regarded as a Bodhisattva of compassion and action. She is the female aspect of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) and comes from tears of Avalokiteshvara of in some origin stories. She is heavenly deity who hears the cries of beings experienceing misery in samsara, so is also known as "The Saviouress". (Read More...)
